What mono

Hi I would like to hear from everybody which mono they prefer to use and why.

Personally I use Awa-Shima for both my mainline(0.25) and my hooklinks(0.20)

I used 0.43mm Diamond Araty for leader and baseline and 0.21mm Double X Hi-Abrasion Green for hooklinks for many years. After I stopped competitive angling I used 0.25mm Double X Hi-Abrasion Green for hooklinks because my average size fish was bigger.

Last week I bought myself 0.35mm Silstar for leaders and baseline and 0.25mm Maxima Green for hooklinks. The reason is that I bought myself a Carp Hunter bag from Sensation and the bulky spools of Double X and Diamond Araty don't fit in the bag. I know the tackle shop owner well and he said he uses these two brands (Maxima Green and Silstar). I have used Maxima Green as leaders and a friend of mine used to fish with Silstar competitively until Double X brought out their Hi-Visibility mono.

I havent had a chance to try the Awa Shima line. Will probably get around to test it December.

I use Awa Shima as main line, its thin you can get A lot of line on A small reel and take it deep with your bait boat, I use xx High abrasion for my leader, you get better but its good value for money I'd say.

I use Diamond Araty .20(8.8lb) for my main line and hooklinks,and Double X 17lb for my leader and shaft line on my traces.

Have never had any problems with Diamond,and I think its a very good buy at the price.

But Im definately going to try Awa-Shima when its time to replace the line.

What do you guys pay for a 300m spool? 600m spool?

I get awa-shima at R55 600m spool which is really a bargain.

I havent used the specimen only used the competition and ion power series how does the specimen perform?

Awa-Shima is the best I find. I use that as my main line as well. Never had a problem before.

Awa-Shima Specimen is the best 0.18mm line I have ever used.

 

[Enigma]

Awa-Shima C+ Hypercast is our best rated line for competition Bank angling. Especially when distance casting it's our lightest and softest line and has good abrasion resistance but doesn't last as long as Specimen or S-Missile (those are the 2 matt coloured lines - Brown and Hi Vis Yellow)

The 0.20mm makes the 2nd strongest hooklines I've ever made. the only one better is the Alpha Line Bass Pro Clear but we're only getting stock again in December
