Marthin,ek kom nie regtig meer daar nie ,en reen is n "rumour" op hierdie stadium,flip dit sit die hele baber-kuns-aas n maand terug vir my.Ek glo maar soos n mamparra aan die eerste reen vir baber op kuns-aas.PM my voor jy kom,miskien kan ons dit inpas,al is dit net n vinnige heen en weertjie.

Ok jy's nou weer bungalow-bul.

Dit het hard gereen in die klerksdorp omgewing laas naweek. Die hele Saterdagnag deur. Die vaal kort ten minste om te lig met so 50-80cm dan is dit tyd.

as dit so droog is behoort die karp mooi te werk by sandveld net na die draad by die karavaan park....

Caught these two whiskers yesterday. One was 12 kgs and the other was over 15kgs ... Still waiting for the 20+ kg to come my way

Vaal Dam, weather was hot with a stiff wind blowing.
Used grass carp heads as bait on my surf tackle. 13' Abu Garcia graphite rod with a Diawa SL50. I always take my surf tackle along to practice my casting.

I also caught 2 common carp and plenty of grass carps between 1 and 2kgs.
Looks like this dam is infested with grassies ...
Does anyone know what's Fona and Flora's opinion on these fish?

they are alien and have exploded over the last three years, but i know they make great bait for barbel, were on the vaal were you fishing? im resident there

Nice going sidd, i'm also a firm believer in using sea tackle for barbel. There's no need to take on an elephant with a .22

Even then when whiskas reach the 20kg mark and u get them on in a flowing river it's no easy task to get them out.

Good catches.

Nice going there Sidd, now for that elusive 20 kg plus.

I went out with a mate of mine on Saturday morning ,to test his boat's engine after some repairs.True to our nature we had a rod or two on board and I managed  to land a "hatchling",great fun nonetheless.

On Saturday afternoon I drove to Bloemhof at "die Hoek" to show my mug at my staff's annual family fishing trip,they stayed at a place called the "River lodge" and thoroughly enjoyed the small barbel and muddies that was on offer.A 6.8kg carp was also caught and was in the lead untill a barbel of 18 kilos took the honours on Saturday evening,caught on muddy-fillet,and a 7' loomis bass rod ,combined with a baitcaster spooled with .35 line .It turned out to be a very healthy team-building exercise with chirps flying left ,right, and centre.

Sunday morning saw limited action,suppose the fish were tired after the night before,still I had the privilage of watching someone catch his first ever fish.Just look at that face ,not only the first one ever caught,but also the first time ever touching a fish,only a mother can love that face (the fish's off course) .Fun was had by all,now to get some productivity out of them for the next week would be a miracle. Lol

Nice gents - glad to see you getting out and abouts and not "bunking" with supposed tummy ailments caused "hydraulic sandwiches" on Wednesday night............LOL

very funny im still sick, was in the clinic last on a drip lost 9kg in 5 days,.. that is of course you reffering to my incedent if not il go make coffe and wake up ,.. lol
