Weeping fuel pump

Hi all

I have a 50hp 2 stroke yamaha.

Intermittently I have noticed goes down on power at almost full throttle.

I suspect not enough fuel getting through, and notice fuel pump seeping at gasket closest to cylinders.

Could this be the issue?

Can I get replacement seals for it?

Thanks!

Could definitely be the issue. At high rpm it may well be the opposite and the fuel pump could be sucking air at this same spot.

Normally fuel seepage or dampness at idle or low rpm does not affect the performance however at high rpm if it sucks air then it will be starving the motor of fuel and hence the lack of power at top end. Typically this will cause the engine to "Hunt" for more fuel(rpm changes without touching the throttle at high rpm.)

Any Yamaha dealer close to you should be able to supply you with the gasket set. Make sure to supply them with the engine number(on the makers plate) so they can supply you with the correct part.
