Weather Conditions

Hi All freshwater anglers

Looking for some advise,

When would you say will be the best time to go fishing and how much does the weather play a role in it.

Take for instance, I am planning a trip to the Vaal this weekend, but I see there is some chance of rain, it's going to be a bit colder with this cold front moving in and the full moon is on it's way out...

Do you think I must go ahead and take a chance this weekend? Will the fish bite or will they get a tough of winter feeling again and go into hiding?

Put it this way. If you don’t have your line in the water …you will wonder again next time and the next…
Anytime is a good time.
Cold conditions is harder. Rain won’t necessarily put the fish off. Some say it helps.
Hope it’s comfortable though and good luck

Hi Catch - On, get an app on Play Store called "Fishing Times Free" not 100% accurate but a good indication of the weather and best fishing times and they also rate the day.;)

If you have small kids you might have a problem... I have fished in sleet and rain with good results and then other days in better weather with less than perfect results, it just depends what your comfort zone is and how bad the fish fever is...LOL

So we packed and headed for the Vaal on Friday,

But unfortunately or maybe for the best we decided to rather reschedule the trip to hopefully next weekend.

After reaching our destination,

The weather just wasn't in our favor, seeing that we had our little kiddies with and only the tent it just wouldn't have been an enjoyable trip and the kids would just have gotten sick in that weather.

It was crazy, rain all over, cold and the wind just didn't want to settle.

I normally wouldn't mind taking a chance but at the end of the day we have to think about the family also...

Hoping the weather will be better this weekend.

Well down here in cape town we had the exact opposite. Vrek warm. After a few hours after no bites I decided to go home because I was not used to the heat yet and not much cover.
Just goes to show
Good luck for the weekend

Hi PI

I want to go back to Mihanzi even if it is just for the day.

Haven't fished there before, we only managed to find a nice spot and look at around a bit last weekend than the weather turned bad...

So really looking forward to wetting the lines there a bit and hoping for some nice sized fish to come out.

Do you have any fishing plans for the weekend?
