Thanx Mikey, yeah been bored out of my scull waiting for my parcel, this is really rediculous, anyhows this then forced me to make better use of the tiny space I have in the townhouse garage...... just need to convince the wifey-boss that her car should sleep outside with the cruiser........ the cruiser is alone you see........ then I can really go Ape(weasel) with the layout and production lines ::S

I am busy on a booth at the moment and thought this might help you. I'm not sure what fan you got in there or the size of your booth but generally we use the following when building spray booths.
Behind the booth we build a chamber and the fan is fitted to the chamber. Between the chamber and the booth we use a filter with a big surface are, this helps to not restrict the flow of air as well as give you maximum filtration. No good having decent airflow and trying to pull air through a small "blocked" area. Filters can be sized, but that is a whole other calculation.

Then to get the correct fan.
Generally we work on minimum 100 CFM (100 cubic feet per minute).
The calculation is: Area (Length X hight) of opening X 100 (CFM required)

So if your booth is 4' wide X 2' high you would require 4x2x100 = 800 CFM exhaust.
Now you can check your fan. All fans are rated CFM or m3/m (Cubic meters per minute). From the example 800CFM would be 800/35(factor) = 22 m3/m.
 
Thanx 4 the info Bennie, will see if that'll make a diffs, thing is I use the booth for airbrushing only, so I'll try and use the formula and apply that to see if i get better airflow.

Cool! The idea is to have a positive flow or movement of air.

Do the calculations and let us know. I'll have a look around here to see what fans I got lying around for you. I've got dry filters here, can make you a filter box? Let me know.

Did you check this out?

I called my supplier about some small extraction fans, told him it was for myself. The next minute he rocks up here with a gift, 2 X 220V fans that will pull about 250m3/hour. Shout if you need one!
