We are going to fish the krom river at St Francis the weekend.
Where is a safe and legal place to launch the boat, because I have heard that there is allot of private launch slipways that can not be used legally.
Where is some good spots on the river to fish for kob, garrick and grunter?

Kind Regards

hey,
you can launch underneath the bridge going to st francis. It is not the safest of places to launch but I for one have never had any problems with theft or break inns into my vehicle with my boat on the water. the tide does not affect the launch. Also a much easier place to launch is in the krom river channels at the channels harbour. there is very distinct signs navigating you to the slipway from st francis town. I heard they are performing maintance to the slip so just make sure if the slip has been finished. I have heard of attempted theft on led trailer lights at this slip. There is a small launch fee to this slip and usually your permits will be inspected as well. note you need a krom river permit for the krom as well as a permit for the channels as well if you plan on using that slip. there is another slip at tietiesbaai just below the top entry of the channels but this slip can only be used when the tide is high and not really recommended as it runs into a very very very thin channel. hope this helps.

any low tide exposed bait bank is good on high tide for grunter. Leervis the gully from the bridge downward and kob from the bridge upward. Try fishing next to the tyres on the first turn upward from the bridge. Its a good alrounder on a moving tide.
