I suffer from the unfortunate disposition at the moment of having fishing on the brain.
Especially now in holiday season.
Carp have me hooked big time.
Barbel is something else though. I look at these things with a big of gross expression. Lelike goed!
and I'm not sure about handling them yet because no one has shown me the do's and dont's. I saw a skeleton with to large spikes on the sides. I think they are concealed inside the pectoral fins.
And to be honest I have only caught a small thing about 700mm long.
Obviously I've seen the beasts in the Bank Angler Mag, and also been basted with bar counter stories of geese and dogs that have been taken down, and salvage divers that have crapped their wetsuits and heads found in turbines at dam walls that are the size of tractor tyres. The Roepstok stories are also always impressive when it gets to the turbulent water part.
One day is one day when I'll make a deliberate effort to catch one.
