Hi guys,

Went to vasfontein friday afternoon for 2 hours, the bass was really active caught 6 bass all on spinnerbait with a green and gold skirt.

I was shocked when I hooked into 2 really nice bass.

Great going there bud, weight?  See you caught them at the dam thats alone and on the Northern side thereof, did you have any luck in the two dams close to the house?

LGF,

Didn't try at the two dams near the house, I always fish the northern dam...

The fat one weighed 2.1kg and the other one 1.6kg.

2,1 nice fish, bud, is that your PB or do you also belong to the elite group that has PB's of over the 4kg's

Also, see that you got them on those smallish mepps and efzet spinners, now Vlakvark also got one on a small spinner.  My Q is ito the retrieve (your action on the soinner), reason for me asking is that Vlakvark droppped his spinner into the nest and just let it sit there..... Knowing that dam at vasfontein, it's difficult to see the nests so I would presume that you applied the spinner in the normal fashion? fast or slow? Just curious as the patrens seems to be very mixed-up currently.....

No my best is 2.9kg, but hopefully I can join the elite group during this summer...

Caught it on a green and gold spinnerbait(the big one), the dam was being filled up caught both of them at exactly the same spot, where the water is pumped into the dam... I would cast and wait for the lure to hit the bottom them just use a steady fairly fast retrieve.

My mate that went with me tried cranks, plastic, chatters and other color spinners but didn't catch anything till he changed to a green spinnerbait and he was on with his second cast.

Don’t know if they in full spawning yet?

Hi Guys,
Was at Vasfontein on Sat 15 Sep. Arrived at 10hsomething and fished the dam across the road (northern). Got one of app 1kg and one gat&grate. Long line released two, both bigger than the first, last one a lolly. Moved up to the dams by the house and hooked a kurper in the anal fin. Must be a black kurper, maybe a new strain?
Had a lot of fun but felt somehow cheated as if this wasn`t serious fishing.
Will take my grandsons there for a bit of fun but do not consider Vasfontein a serious venue.

Hi guys,

First post here :)

Anyways - does anyone have a contact number for vasfontein? I'd like to find out if there's a toilet that the ladies can use.

We wanna go there this weekend and take the other halves with (who won't really fish, they'll just sit around and have a coupla drinks / read stuff)

But i won't be too popular with the missus if there is no jazz. And all the reporst say there aren't any.

Last time we were there the house did look like it might have an outside facing toilet - but that was almost a year ago. So i don't want to 'hope & pray' i'd rather phone and find out.

Cool - i'll fill it in just now :)

Anyways - i did do a search, and found a coupla posts detailing what that one does (plus or minus).

I figured i'd push my luck and ask anyway - just now someone's actually had a woman there that has successfully used the bathroom (failing that, maybe someone has a contact number)

My most sincere appoligies, I really thought LGF's posts had phone numbers. Any way LGF's info states that toilet facilities are non existent.
