Hey sharkbait

You can try some "rysmiere" (dont know what you call it in english). I heard that carps like meaty baits this time of the year and if the carps dont go for it, you still have a chance for a nice yellow fish!

I fished at Aqua Via a while ago and we had lots of success with plain white dough so you can also try that!

Tight Lines!

try meilies soaked in meths, if you cant get one to feed you always get it dronk and talk into coming home with you,.lol

but serously meths soaked meilies does actually work

I have been at Aqua Via about two weeks ago. I caught a 5.8kg carp on some Almond Floaties. Depth was about 12m from the opposite bank.

Three flavours that always seems to work in the Vaal is Banjo, Oorlog and FX. And yes, don't leave the earthworms at home, always worthwile in the Vaal. And put some anisseed in you mealie-bomb......it advertises the position of your bait like a bomb!!

Conventional style: Almond floaties and the pink ones that smell like bubblegum (cant remember the flavor), supacast mielie bomb with brown bread mixed in. Anything sweet will work. a Bloke that fished with us a while ago in the Vaal actually dips his mielie bombs in rasbery icecream syrip. He caught the biggest/most fish for the weekend. Most fish we've caught in the Vaal are just before sunset and during the night.

I am also of the opinion that sweet dips yield the best results although I won't classify Almond as sweet, it also works really well in the vaal river. I use Almond floaties and spray some almond onto the bom as well. This works especially well at night.
