Thanks for the effort Reefman,nice banter to this topic,lol ,I also make use of 2x fig 8 on thicker stuff,and agree with the tag ends at right angles to the line 100%,I have on occasion "blobbed" those tag ends cautiously with a windproof lighter.Leaving the tag end about 1mm,before applying heat,and taking great care not to heat anything bar the actual tag end,one can "touch" it with the heatsource and "tap" it with a finger to give a bit of extra re-assurance that your tag end aint going nowhere.

The whole beauty of the tag ends of a Fig 8 is that it lies parallel to the mainline. It has NEVER ever happened to me that a tag end will catch on an eye... and in 50 years, thats a lot of casting bru! There is much, much, much more chance of the Bristol, Yucatan or Albright's tag ends catching the eye on the way out... just by the mere fact that it lies at 90' to the mainline.
Trust me on this one Stu... the vast majority of Club and Provincial anglers tie their leaders this way - using Bimini- Double Fig 8.
Ok --- also had a look at my Fig 8 in the photo above... the tag ends are very long - if you're scared that the Tag is too long, Homes is right, you can cut it to 1-2mm.
My concern regarding The figure 8 Job , is that Precarious Piece of tag end sticking out front on the way out through the eyes ....
If that sucker has to hook - I couldn't care if that stuff is R100 per Meter- 1.6 Or 1.2 mm if It goes through the eyes like the gautrain it's GONNa get shtuck somewhere and Bam!- you got a Stuart Cast !!
The back End section is fine , those lil pieces on the .57 siglon are Reg vir die pot - That front one ................

There is no better knot to make as the one on the previous post by Reefman. If you want to you can use all three legs from the bimini. Just cut the loop and roll the three strands together. If you use .5 line the tree strands will give you 1.5mm and is more ore less the same as your leader.

Must Say though reef- I'm Pretty chuffed with the Bristol, i Struggled with the Yucatan , and i had to pull like CRAP to Get the 1.6 mm to Make an 8 !!!:spite .
allbright and Me just dont see eye to i , I'm afraid - the Tag end turning on itself staring down the barrel of that 14ft Gun like a bullet , waiting to KLAP - somehow I can't sell Myself on this one as a Caster . uh .uh . Still , a Deadly Trace knot .
SO Far on .9 mm Line , I am Speechless as to how Or why spykers Knot (also 90 to the direction of Mainline Leader thingie) floats through eyes so easily .Ask JAM - Jinne I Laughed Last Night at vic bay-the guy was in/offing almost Every Throw until I changed it to spyker !! ha Ha Ha ha !! the jibes coming from that Bananaplant's mouth last night were worth the drive down!!! lol
I will Try My bristol after an in/off ( any student Falls off the horse now and then , and sometimes my finger's a bit slow , you Know ? ) and compare the 2 , but so Far , then , at 1.2 mm It's a Bimini/double 8 or a bristol .

And then after all this - all that has to happen now , is for Me to Buy a friggin KITE - and then tying Knots that fit through eyes becomes less of a problem - Ha Ha ha ha !!

I am Happy to report that coupled to a spider Hitch , the Bristol boytjie survived an Accidental hookup with a Frikkin SEAL last night . The Leader Popped and Obviously we were trying to Land it for the sake of Removing the hook , but the Leader Parted on the Mussels .
My Braid under the Mainline , i Saw on sunday , Reef , is tied with double fig 8 .witha 3-splice Bimini Nogal to boot! ..So the guy who Owned the saltiga before Me Obviously was a Fan of yours .... Lololol !!! :sha
