Hi Gents,

Anyone launch from the Tugela River into the big blue? Planning on heading out there in Dec, and have heard that the fishing is quite good

Any Ideas on accommodation in the area? Crime? Launch? Species?

Any help/previous experience would be appreciated!

If I could help I would I viewed out of interest as I would also like to launch there some time.

There is a safe caravan/camping spot close to the mouth and I believe fishing is quite good in summer up North Balito Zinkwazi area.

Would be interested to see if there are any replies.

yip, id also like to Launch there sumtime.. in summer, generally, with the rains, the water will be Dirty for a long way!. but if u come right & u gonna Fish there, let me know

Seems like I will be the first to Visit the Tugela Mouth. Looking at getting a handheld GPS now to complement my Garmin 140 fishfinder.

insteed of tugela why not try Zinkwazi heard there some good rrefs and lotsa fish. easy launch and some nice fish in december let us know if you have any luck. Zinkwazi in about 60km from tugela

We stayed in Tugela Mouth Resort in April last year, and I must say, the accomodation isn't bad for what you pay.  As far as launch sites, not sure, but you can try the resort, they might be able to help you there.

Hi Stuart,

Spoke to the Guys at Zinkwazi, the seemed quite helpfull, but my problem currently is that I don't have a 4x4, so I am stuck launching from slipways, rivers and the like, unless I have a couple of buddies tagging along with a 4WD.

I also enquired about Mtunzini, as I have fished there once from a charter, but the guys at my SB club said that the area is flat for miles, with no structure to speak of.

I know that at Mtunzini you also launch into the Lagoon/River, so it would have suited me, but I'm not willing to travel for hours fising by my ACE, so TUGELA it is...

I will be at Amatikulu from friday,havent fished there before , had a chat to someone from local sbc and he advised launch easy , also promised some way points .

From your post, I suppose that its safe to say that you will be launching @ Tugela?

I am going from the 30'th of Dec, so will miss you, but tight lines...
