Trinidad DC

Good morning All. I got this trinidad 20 DC to service from Edwin. he complained the reel was serviced by someone else but it felt scratchy and not smooth, so i opened her up. These are arguably the best reel shimano made for our type of fishing on the high end range of product. This reel is built differently from the other trinidads. I love the solid cage and side plates, the sikd gears and stainless pinion gear. The pinion gear is the one that works the hardest so shimano paid proper attention to this when designing them. The main gear is large aluminium bronze, the drags powerful carbon fiber, the anodizing is high quality, the reel has an adjustable digital cast control which is what DC stands for. There is a double length one way anti reverse roller bearing that is double sealed and a positive clicking anti reverse dog pawl so NO anti reverse problems on this reel. Absolute quality through and through. Opened i found the reel dry check the gearing no grease, the drags did not have cals in something else and not shimanos OEM grease either, there was corrosion on the spool shaft on 2 placed that was forming due to being dry. the bearings in the tension cap had started showing corrosion for the same reason, the reel had not been correctly assembled also the handle spacer was behind the handle nut and not against the star drag, this stops the star from rubbing against the handle blank check it out. All the issues were resolved, the reel was ultrasonic cleaned, the rust polished out on the lathe and assembled with the JJ TLC and she is good as new again and smooth as can be. Enjoy the pics.
