Afternoon all.

Had a strange thing happend, both my motors trim and tilt bar indication on the local indicators has stopped indicating, I have checked fuses etc. and all are fine. The funny thing is both at the same time ??. I have 2 x 60 2 stroke 2009 Yamahas. I have not contacted a dealer as yet. Any idea as to the problem ??

Hi CLS

My thought is that if it is common to both check that the earth on the terminals of the units  are still well connected/earthed.

You can also do a simple test with your tester or a 12 volt bulb with a piece of wire  and see that there is current being received by the unit when trimming the motors if you disconnect from the back of the units

Thanks, will check the connections, that sounds like the problem as it is common to both.

Hi there, I had a simular thing with my boat (same motors, two years older) I found that the trim switches at the motors were stuck in the down position. Trim the motors up and see if the little wheel and lever is not stuck in the down position. A bit of Q20 and moving the lever up and down a few times sorted out the problem for me. The sea salt builds up around the lever which causes it to seize. The switch is above the trim and tilt cylinders and can easily been seen when the motors are trimmed up. I now give them a generous rinsing after use.

Worth checking out. (this will only be applicable if the trim inicators stay down and dont come up when the motors are trimmed up)

Thanks Alan.

I will have a look when I get home, I will look there then for a bad connection.

Cheers.

Hi Alan, motors sorted, as you said the switches were stuck, a bit of Wynns #5 and all sorted.

Thanks all.
