Having all your traces the same length helps when casting as you dont have to alter the drop on your line. -- DROP-- length of line from top guide to weight.
Material:
1 X Flat piece of timber 1000mm x 100mm x 12mm. 7 x screw in hooks. 1 x wooden block 38 x 38 x 100mm. 2 x self tapper screws 30mm. Tape measure. Permanent marker. I x dowl stick or broomstick 100mm.
Method:
( 1 ) Screw the wooden block onto the flat timber (using the 2 self tapper screws ) at one end. ( 2 ) screw in 3 of the hooks into the block so that the bends show towards the end of the flat timber. ( 3 ) screw the other 3 hooks into the block directly above these first 3 ( they will now point upwards ).
NOTE: make sure the size screw in hooks you have are thin enough for your swivel eye to fit over.
Place the tape measure directly under a screw hook ( pointing towards end of board ) and mark the distances you require eg. 50mm, 100mm, 150mm etc. using the permanent marker.
The board is now complete.
Take the dowl or broomstick and screw the last hook into the centre of it. ( this gets used to tighten knots.)
The 3 hooks pointing towards the end of the board gets used for trace tying traces. The 3 upward is for storage, should you first eg tie all your hook snoots, and then all your sinker line, and in the end assemble the trace.
Also when having to make a knot in the same line that you are using ,use the permanent marker to indicate where the knot should be exactly.
REMEMBER: should you want a trace eg 400mm first overcut the line and experiment how much line you use to tie the type of knot you make.
