Been to Shackletons often. Good fishing in winter. Great food, accomodation and service. Also very good with kids. Highly recommended.

Hi Gary,

Looking to take the family to shackletons this year. Do you mind telling us what time is the best to go and what sort of financial deal did you get?

Hi Yellow Monster

I have just booked our 2011 Zambezi trip and we will be staying at Shackletons this year first week of June. I booked a fly-in package that I found on a tigerfishing website at a very reasonable rate of R11500 p/p for 6 days all-in (food, flights, transfers, fishing), i saw some other similar offers in the same area which were a bit cheaper but they didn't look as nice and when i asked around Shackletons came in highly recommended.

Has anyone heard anything about the waterlevel this year on the Upper Zambezi, i heard rumours that its coming down moosa fast, and I'm a bit worried that we are going to see another huge flood like last year?

March is early in the season; the water levels will still be high.  I was in the area twice last year, end July and early September. Trolling with magnum Rapalas or spinning with double copper Effzetts proved to be the most effective for us.

I will be going up the for the first time from the 22 April - 2 May! Any advice on what worked and what to take and also the water levels at the moment would be wonderfull!

Thanks Bud

water levels are very high
work spinners early morning and late afternoon mepps and effzets work well
stay on the water until just before dark bigger fish were caught then
try to get bulldogs there weren't to many available  for us the few got worked well
drift baits worked well from 9:30 to 15:00
one thing make sure your terminal tackle is strong
