Tiger fishing

Hey guys.

Just thought I'd let you guys know, I'm leaving on sunday to go work at tiger fishing lodge on the lower zambezi. Im going to be helping in the running of the lodge and overseeing fishing safaris. :fishn

Although I haven't been a very active member of these forums, Im sure I'll be able to post alot more pictures etc in the near future. (Provided I can get internet access once in a while)

WHich lodge - I worked as a fishing guide for a number of years on the lower Zambezi? Zambia or Zimbabwe?

Hi Ryan

I've been invited by a friend in Zambia to fish the Zambisi with him for a week.
All I have to do is fly to Livingstone. He'll fetch me from there and arrange everything.
I have no idea which lodge. I'll probably get all the info as soon as I give him the dates. I was thinking of going up from the 19th to the 27th of July.

What's the conditions like at that time of the year? What species are targeted ?
What's the appropriate tackle to take along?

Anytime............Just remeber keep it simple at all times.
Look for drop offs and channels and you cannot go wrong. Fish for tigers like you would for bass no difference just use wire and faster retrieve etc.

Just confirmed the dates with my contact in Zambia. We'll be there from the 9th to the 16th of August. I wonder if the wife will mind if I start packing from now ...hmmmm?

Ryan ... What size hooks do you recommend I take with?

Hmmm now I am green......
I got a trip planned to the same area from 1-9 August.
Suggest you look at the VMC range 2/0's are more or less the correct size. I can also advise that you buy a couple of circle hooks - they work really nicely and they hook in the scissors of the Tiger (which is the softest part of it's mouth)

Use a haywire twist found on the back of Marlin piano wire. Remember to use small swivels to tie to main line....

Ryan ... not sure if I asked you about the rod and reel combo to use off the boat for my upcoming trip..... BTW just booked my flight yesterday ... CAN'T WAIT !!!!
