1)what is the most popular maize flavour?-want to get a mielie smell in the ground bait.

2)we seem to loose a lot of fish through hook pulls,using no1 daiichi and scuds in the same size.whas wrong?

3)the line doesnt last,we use shimano 6000 and double x platinum and hi vis 0,2mm main line and 0,38 leaders,we having to change line after every second trip.is this normal?

4)what the BLIKSEM is dc dip.at our club comp at krugers we caught however there was no pattern ie catch 2 then nothing add a flavour then catch 2,then nothing ,add a flavour then catch 2 etc etc .we eventually ended up wih 7 different muti on the bomb.the top 4 guys only used dc(in fact on chap used 4 bottles).we had the lines clipped the whole weekend,and the fish were on the spot the whole weekend.

what do you think?

I am no expert, but lets see if I can help.

A: HKGK from Super Cast or MZ from Magic Baits. You can also use whole kernel mielies in the bom to assist with the maize scent your after.

A: Provide a little more information, is it as soon as you strike or whilst you are reeeling in the fish, and what bait were you using?

A: Are there snags in the water you fish or is it open water with no snags? I put on new line after every comp to ensure it holds the fish.

the fish come off about halfway in,also the hook falls out when its in the landing net.we strike upwards.
want the mielie flavour to get he bomb to smell mielies

Let me have a go....

1.) Champion dips do have a mielie muti. It is see through, so it won't colour your bomb. You can also use Nash sweetcorn, which is more known in the speciman angling circles. HKGK as PI said will also do the job, however, that will colour your bomb as it contains green fluoro as far as I know, which is not necessarily a bad thing. On the day it can work better.

2.) What type of rods are you using? Stiffer rods can lead to more hook pulls, as there is no "give" in the rod. Also do you loosen the brake at the back of the baitrunner? If a fish turns on you, it must be able to swim freely, therefor avoiding the sudden hook pull when it turns. You can also have a look at the lenghts of your hook line. If it is to short, the hook might not get a chance to get inside the mouth before the fish reacts to the weight and tries to swim away. What fish is it you are loosing? For muddies and grassies I use a M1 weight, as these two fish like grabbing the bait , and thereby hooking themselves against the heavier weight versus the lighter weight of a M0. Their mouths are much tougher than that of a carp, so maybe striking a bit harder just to set the hook better, is also an option. If it's carp you are loosing, refer to the hook link lenght issue above. My hooklinks are 12-13cm knot to knot. The other thing can be the fact that you fish with floaties (not sure if you do). Floaties tend to hook on the outside of the mouth by accident if the fish feeds on the bomb, or if you use a dough backing with the floatie, it might be going for the dough behind the floatie, and therefor hooking in on the outside, or not setting the hook properly in the mouth. Make sure the hook is proud at all times. Daiichi are sharp hooks and won't get blunt very easily, but I change hooks after every comp. New hooks are just sharper.

3.)That is strange. Maybe look at getting the higher abrasion line. I think double x hi viz comes in high abrasion, not sure. But as PI said, there might be obstuctions in the water.

4.) Don't know DC. I know a DCX, which is the same as FX basically.

I use the knotless knot to tie my hooks. Make sure that the hook tilts towards the inside after the knot. In other words, the hook line and hook must form a small angle, that will also ensure a better hook set.
