This DSI is just amazing, every time I go out with it I can't believe how simple it is to use and how effective it is as a fishfinder.

This morning I idled out just off Vetchies, and found the Maasbankers THICK!  With other predators feeding too.  The dual high frequency view is very unique to the DSI - giving the best of both worlds - coverage and detail.

So I loaded up on some livebait very quickly and headed for the Umgeni Mouth ...

As I arrived I came across this showing - it didn't look like the maasbankers earlier ...

So I dropped my string of Sibikis on them anyway - I was shocked to even see the tiny little feathers on the hooks as it went down.  It turned out to be shad and I lost half my hooks!  What was interesting was to see how easy it was to differentiate between the species with the New DSI by Lowrance.

So I rigged up a maasbanker on a very dodgy livebait rig - and got into a couple of nice size Springer.

Man you know your stuff. Mind if I ask a technical question on interpreting your charts?

In the first pic - there are two distinct "bottom lines" Is the one in the middle with the pronounced peak the scool of fish or the actual bottom? And the second will be answered by the first I suppose - what is the bottom wavy line - the bottom?

In the 2nd pic - The school of fish hanging near the bottom seems obvious. They seem to be "wavy" - is that a function of the swell lifting and dropping the boat? Can one then use a flat bottom wavy chart to identify swell size and frequency?

Pic 4 - the wavy pattern is very apparent - swell action again?

Elite 5x DSI. I only need the fishfinding capability and I researched sealine extensively. The sidescan is not going to work for my application. Lowrance definitely are the leaders when it comes to screen presentation. I already have the latest Garmin GPS/ combo but the split screen reduces the fishfinding capability too much. I've replaced my furuno 4100 with the elite. Lets see how it goes!
