I limit myself to M0, M1.5 and P4 and when I get angry then sommer a 4oz

I keep away from springs and sputniks

Darts and S sinkers work best in weed

Springs and disk sputnicks tangle in the weed with springs being the worst

Mushroom (M) sinkers are the most stable on the bottom and provide a good surface area to hold the Feed in a hard cast.

your Good old 3 and 4oz bottle sinkers are in my opninion the most stable for distance casting as they don't tumble and the thin neck helps for putting on a small feed bol

Better to limit yourself in the number of different weights you ise or it gets to much to carry

The new super link system from supercast is really good it is a tapered nylon center that you build the trace with and then you have 3 different sinker weights you can interchange

Hi JJ, I also use those Mushroom sinkers most of the time. I only use Sputnicks if there are rocks in the water and you tend to break. When you reel in the Sputnick lifts from the bottom and limits the chance of getting your line stuck.

The Sputnicks are very light and I tend to find them a problem in heavy winds.

Stick to the Mushrooms ;)

M1 for me most of the time. Where I fish getting stuck is ussualy due to hooks getting stuck on grass or sometimes the weight getting wedged in rocks. Just grab the line between the reel and the first eye and wrap it a few times around the rod and start walking backwards stopping just short of the line breaking. Keep the tension and after a while you should feel something give way. Unless the hooks or sinker is really stuck or the knots are not tied properly, you should be able to get all the end tackle back. Sometimes it looks like someone hit it with a rock as it was pulled through the rocks.

I fish springs exclusively and dont experience to much hassle. It probably because I fish the Vaaldam 99% of the time. The time when I will use a weight is when I'm trying to get distance and then I will use the P4 and P5 weights.

I have to many spring rigs and have limited budget and space to have M stroppe as well. One day when I'm more confident in my casting I will try the M series.
