The last leg of the cup was held Thursday at a col

The last leg of the cup was held Thursday at a cold and windy Steyns (oh damn, my wader!). The area from the Stres Brug to the bus were pegged and me and my new, unknown pegmate were pegged in the E-zone. The water turned out not to be cold at all and I started of at 60 and 80m. Things were however destined to be frustrating when I checked the directions towards where the guys' rods were pointing. I aimed for the right hand house of a row of houses on the opposite side of the bank, and the guys to my right aimed towards telephone poles to the left of the houses. My pegmate (on my left) aimed at the same house as me, or so he said (gawd, he casts skew! Dragged out the lines of the guys to my right ::( ). PS, there should be a law to ban the building of houses opposite a fishing venue.
Back to the fishing. I was not nearly as prepared as I should have been for this comp, but had a few spare traces (had a "quick" few with a mate at the pub the previous evening). I started of with Ebony and Duiwelsdrek on the 1 rod and sticky on the other. The fishing was very slow and by 9 only 2 out of 8 nets were in the whole of D-F zones. So I was'nt phased at all at that time. But soon enough the nets came in and when I wiped out my eyes, I was the only one blanking at about 11:30. I was a bit ignorant and frustated by then because my pegmate kept casting to my far right (and catching fish there) and dragging out my lines. I joined my mates from one of the opposing teams that were pegged in my zone for a lick of OBS (did I mention that it was cold?), but alas, a lick was all I got coz they finished the bottle earlier. I saw them drenching their bol with FOUR dips (its called an ice cream), something that i don't do at all. Charl had five fish and Rudi had 7 fish by then. Rudi offered to load a trace for me, which i refused (ja, i would have been his guinea pig, testing new combos with me). Charl then laughed and said that they are fishing with Perdeby, Looti, FX and Kiana together on the bol. I noticed that they were barely casting 20m as well. (jaa, okay i was spying!! ::S. Bastard). I didnt get up and tried it as yet but eventualy conceded and tried it on the one rod and went back to Charl and Rudi. Sure enough, i barely rested my frustrated ass when i saw my policeman run towards the water. I looked for my pegmate, but didnt see him reeling in, so it could then only be a fish. I ran and got my first fish, with the second rod's policeman dropping into the water while busy unhooking the first fish. Two fish within 5minutes at a distance of 20m at 12:30! Cool, not blanking! Rebaited, cast in at 20m and back to my mates (discovered a stash of other bodily warming liquid from Russia nogal). And so went the last 2 hours where I managed to go from a dry net to 7 muddies at weigh-in overtaking a few others in the zone, including Charl. I came 4th and had just as much fish as one of the other fish, but he beat me with 400g. The 7 muddies weighed 3,15kg in total. The guy to my right only had 4 fish but had a grasscarp of 4,3kg for a bag of 7kg odd. Rudi won the zone with 10 fish.
Nice outing as always and better than a day at the office.

This whole good heartedness of me mates, brings an ethical question to mind.
In their kindness, they gave me the solution for the day, with my tempo giving them a scare at the end of the day. My pegmate had 2 undersize yellows in his net and was disqualified and we ended last in the zone in anycase. Although i now 'skuld' them big time as i was made to understand, do you think that it's right to give this information to my team members and then win the day and possibly the cup?
I did give it to my pegmate and another team member that came and ask me.

Congrats! Nice report. Hopefully they will forget the favour and you won't have to feed them info next time you start off better than them. I am all for sharing, even if it is afterwards, lol!

PS: Next time sit on your pegmates other side.

haha ja, or lioghts at the other side, at meerhof there is a bright light at the oberon side, and at night time, everybody at meerhof takes their lines towards that light...

En die ironie is, ek het my kar regs by die pen parkeer toe kom parkeer hy aan my r/kant. Toe skuif hy links ::{

Hoe verklaar n mens varswater visvang?
