The City and our fishing spots

The fishing industry contributes for R48billion gdp of this country. That is more then rugby and soccer combined.

It is the slogan of the City "this city works for you"

To me that's amazing seeing that all beach access roads are either inaccessible to guys without 4x4 vehicles. Furthermore the city goes to great lengths to police the access roads to the best fishing spots but little or no budget is allocated to our sport to make the beaches more accessible. Broken road is closed off in stead of under repair. Macassar access road looks like our roads when we were still considered "gaminitus" lol. Guys drop a Line to the city let's see how they work for you.

Noted! I agree but it hurts to say, if I understand your point correctly. I hate the fact that we with or without 4x4's cannot go as we please to do what we love and preserve. My point is, that making it more accessible for us makes it more accessible for our poachers.??? The poachers cause us to struggle. We need better strategies!

Hi I agree in part but then again should we as license paying anglers suffer because of the inadequacies of government when we know that the industry delivers more then R47Billion per annum in revenue. So what do u suggest as strategy.

Broken road not a prime poaching spot.

I agree, they can put some effort in, instead of just closing it off and get coppers to keep people out.

You know I'll try and make it as short as possible! Only the last year I've been fishing Franskraal at least once a month. If you know the area between there and Pearly you will know that years ago we could drive that stretch of beach up and down as we like. (me as kid) Today we only allowed a short distance from a gate to ride and they're closing up more and more areas. But why? Now you go fish anywhere along Franskraal beach day or night and you'll see these guys poach openly. Strategy? I personally take it as a challenge and open for suggestions. Maybe we should get more involved and make that one phonecall. Spread the word between us. Fight it. Or try to make a difference. I don't know. In afrikaans they say "Eendrag maak mag." We know it happens everywhere. This is where we want to be, at the sea, away from the even more ............. crime in the city. I can go on and on and....
