Testing my new rod and reel

As you can see, I had great fun this weekend testing out my new "toys"!!! I chose a light but strong Kingfisher rod and Daiwa SL30 reel, (loaded with 7kg 0.37mm Maxima line).

JJ and myself were on the water early Sunday morning and before long were into a shoal of fair size Snoek.  My new "toys" were really put to the test and they did not disappoint!!!  We caught 4 nice size Snoek.

I must thank JJ for all his good advice in helping me chose a light tackle outfit.

Well done Eric,from these pics and your previous posts on KZN-Snoek,I think you should change your Sealine name to "Snoek-Master'",everybody will know who you are anyway.Nice to have a youngster like JJ to assist with tackle-selection,these youngsters know more about ratio,and line capacities,and drags than most of us,good on you JJ.

Hi Glen, No haven't been in to any couta yet, but found that the Snoek are really of sizes. Going to use whole red-eye soon and then maybe I get something of worthy size again. Can't wait to get a nice siza on my new outfit.

Young JJ works at Kingfishers, Dbn. Thats why Eric has had such good tackle advice. JJ is fast becoming a very good Tackle sales Person.

Lekka fish there Eric, good to see to see that most of the snoek are bigger than last year.
Did you buy the Snoek Ski?? If you like it and need another rod then also look at the Elbe Powercurve - great rod at half the price, I have both and they are almost identical.

Hi D Found the snoek rod still a bit stiff for me,,, got the Pompano Delux it a great rod, it is on the light side but realy help to strike a fish nicely on it own. Yes the snoek are of nice size this year.... Have you got your new boat yet? See you are giving your secret spot away.
