Using 100Lb whiplash stitched direct onto power swivel with 1.9 mm crimped leader onto another power swivel  with 200Lb Coated Stainless Steel trace on a torium 50 with a 20/0 circle.

My concern is that there is no weakpoint if the hooks get snagged in the bricks. At this stage the weakest point is the braid.

Have considered putting in a snap swivel or something like that between braid and leader but they do not have a strenght rating.

Else I need to use thinner/weaker leader coming in at just under the 100 Lb mark.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

0.80mm as a break leader between 2 x power swivels from the braid to the leader. But then still it's a mission to break the 0.80mm, ask Aquadementia

No I always fish topshot. On 100lbs I fish 100m of 0.80mm on 80lbs I fish 200m of 0.60mm

I just believe the nylon adds protetion and with the Bungi effect helps to tire a fish.

Thanks again for all your advise. There are 2 reasons why I stopped using top shot. They are kind of linked.

1. Weakness in Join ( This was before i started to use the braid stitch. ) between Braid Backing and Top Shot. I could be wrong but i have found that the best way to join the braid is directly onto a swivel so the braid cannot cut through the nylon. I am sure you guys do this well enough but I just don't have the confidence when joining the braid to mono. I was using 2 biminis and cats paw.

2. Drag in Water. Whilst I Agree that it must tire the fish more with the stretch, it also cause more drag in the water whilst waiting. I am fishing the Big Outfit with an Aqua Cat and putting a bait 300m offshore. With a fair sized swell causes huge drag on the line. We found that the Braid halves this pressure. Also with braid, the pickup is almost immediate where as with 300m of nylon, we would not notice the bite. This was very evident when there were smaller fish around.

To compensate for the lack of Topshot, I am putting a longer section of leader than I normally would. With your .8mm advice, I will split the leader into 2 longer sections. 1 of .8mm and the other the 1.9mm leader. I found that the leader allows for quite a lot of stretch by itself.

I use my big outfit 100lbs with the kite or aquacat or Kayak and the 80lbs with 0.60mm with all the above and casting

I fish circles (20/0) and find the later detection og the bite makes sure the fish has the bait well in the mouth, tighten up fully and once on set the hook proper.

I join the braid to topshot by using a stitch in the braid (not tied off at all) then a 13 turn catspaw to the Bimini in the nylon. I use a bimini in the topshot to the windon leader and then a 3/0 Jap power swivel to the 3m Cable trace.

Never had a problem of the mainline to braid connection popping even when using the Tica 30SW, 2 Speed Lever drag which matches with a Tiagra 50 and is rated higher for drag

It's all personal preference but the setup serves me well and have landed a lot of good fish this year and used it in 6m seas off shark point with a kite in June and got my fish with it.

I do believe your setup will work well and when that 4m tiger arrives, if he doesn't strip the Tor 50 you might just land him.
