Hi Guys,

Im looking for a good spot to go for the day, not to far from jhb. We have visitors over from America and would like to show them what south african fishing has to offer.
If anyone has suggestions please would you give some tips and advice as well.

Many thanks

Close to JHB at this time of year?????

Geez, not a lot on offer, most of our indigenous fish are fast asleep or freezing thier tails off, unless you are a die hard through the night carp fisherman.

If you want to drive 3 hours, there are great trout places Dulstroom/Belfast way.

If you have access to a boat the bass fishing at Rhinohead and Rust De Winter should still be decent.

Flyfishing the Vaal can be good, but a bit specialized this time of year (need boats etc).

When I saw the heading I thought you were looking for a hired gun???

...as mentioned winter is not the greatest time in JHB for indigenous species

If you are into Fly Fishing, Brookwood Trout Farm outside Mulders Drift is always a treat, and the trout love the cold weather.
They also have rod hire there, so all you need to take is a picnick basket and a couple of bucks for entrance & rod hire.
PM me if you want more info.:ifishin:ifishin:ifishin:ifishin:sa::whisp
