And experiment i shall.

if the weather wasnt so crap i could go and test fly my kite this weekend.

i have been testing release clip break weights by lifting full quarts of black label as thats one of the only things i have of similar weight to a shark bait and i have quite a quantity of quarts as a student. its a pretty nerve-wracknig affair.
I have a 12 inch KP with 1500m of 140lb braid to fly my kite, big thanks DHgate.com for making braid affordable!!

im going to put everything to the test, and hopefully i will have a nice report about a large shark in a few weeks time

Metro, scrounge around for a plastic two litre milk bottle, terribly hard to find for a student ,lmao, either that or have a goal-keeper/full-back as your kite/drop practice partner.lol:beer

Well hopefully I will have my “mullers kite” by Friday the buddies and I cannot wait to go test kite on Sundays River Surf, The bad weather this weekend gave them ample time to sort out their gear and dig out the old Penn Senator 6/0 and also I believe a 10/0

Believe me I have not seen such hype for a long time, it looks like we are going to have some fun

1X times 2 litre milk bottle.. check.

i didnt break any beers so thats was a good start.

There some pretty big fields around here, just waiting for a windy day to give it a spin. not much wind here in G town.

Imfeni, you order the kite line from mullers? otherwise i would buy braid or dacron from overseas to spool the 6/0 or 10/0 to fly the kite. you can get 1000m 130lb braid for about R300-350 including postage and customs from china. is pretty decent stuff, i have the 140lb from there.

here is the link (http://www.dhgate.com/gg-1pcs-1000m-pe-spectra-extreme-dyneema/p-ff808081368687a601368ab0da336218.html)
only snag is that it takes an eon to get here.. 2 to 6 weeks

I took my seagull kite for a spin in light winds, sub 8km/hr gusting to 12-15 km/hr (measured on my kestrel)
there was heavy turbulance and it was very difficult to keep it in the air and is awas also difficult to find a height for good clean wind.

I wouldnt fly my seagull kite in less than a constant wind of about 12km/hr.

i also recomment practicing on dry land as i mustve crashed it about 20 times in the light but turbulent winds

this is the mullerskite fishing clip they make temselfs. It costs R15 and works like nothing els. For starters i only every needed to strike 2 to get it to drop my bait. You dont have to cut your mainline to put it on. That meens that you can put it anywhere along your braided mainline. I'v used it with big baits up to 9 and 10oz sinkers attatced and dropped 500m out to sea.
On an related topic the Mullers kite is very good but to strong for most mild to wild winds. For this kite it must be a almost windliss day, but it will take out very big baits in anything more than a breaze. I ask them for a smaller one(half size). Maybe if there is more demand they will look into it for us. There kite kan be taked up to 70% but easely up to 50%.
