Hi chaps, need to pick your brains.
A few months ago discovered a reef a few kms off shore, ranges from 45 to 50m deep.
the few fish that do get landed, few kobbies and roman with the occasional stumpy.
I recently got into slow pitch jigging and the bug has bitten to say the least.
Since discovering the reef these submarines pick up my jig on its flutter down, massive headshakes and huge run and get reefed.
For some odd reason those fish only nail the jigs.livebait etc pulls other fish.
We've resorted to heavy tackle,Dogfight 8000 with 80lb braid and 120lb leader.
To no avail.Ive even locked the drag on the reel and as it nails the jig we try tow the the fish away from the structure and i kid you not....we come off second best every time.
Have spent about 2k in jigs and stopped fishing for them because its futile and I doubt healthy to the fish swimming around with a 200gram jig for however long it takes to rid of it.
Now my initial guess is,that they are poensies...big poensies.
Reason for my thinking is I landed a smaller one and had a similar fight, headshakes and run.
Can you guys give me your opinion as to what they can be?
Just want the photo, not interested in keeping these goliaths.
And no.not be sharing coords..
