After an absence of almost 2 weeks and with the weather that kept the boats in the harbour most of the time Awesome Charters was yet again in full swing when the yellowtail went on the bite on the 5 mile bank today. Most of the fish were caught on vertical jigs but a lot of fish also took baited hooks. There were very few young fish and most of the yellowtail were in the 6-10kg class with some yellowtail weighing in at 15 kg.
We are expecting two days of rain and some wind but all indications are that the fish is here to stay for a few weeks. There is plenty of food in the water and temperatures will not drop drastically in the next 2 weeks.
