Guys – I had a chat to the men with the rods standing on the rocks and beaches and this is the general consensus from the angler and the professional fisherman as far as the current winter angling/fishing is concerned:
Elf has become scarce but the odd one is still landed. The best bet is Skulpiesbaai, Northumberland Point and the harbour and hour after high tide.
Nice size steenbras on the plaat with worm the best bait have been landed the past few days.
The grunters are still in the harbour - prawns/worm always works well with light tackle.
The best galjoen is at Die Walle (too far for my old legs), at the beacon at Arniston and still coming out at Brandfontein. Also nice Belman at Bandfontein
s dissapeared. There are still Skipjack around, but not as many as two weeks ago. Some boats landed a few Geelbek and Kob, but generally are restricted to a few red fish. Yesterday on chukkie had 500kg of Geelbek, and one commercial speedboat around 600kg’s of shark.
The wind is currently blowing E - generally not a good sign, but is predicted to turn NW'ish in the next day or two.
