Ferdie and i decided to go to stilbaai for the day as we have a league there next weekend and both of us have a poor track record for this comp! we started at the Tafel in jongensfontein and as usual i was first in the water with a choka throw bait, goldshark was still faffing around his bait box when i got pulled flat and FASS!! I landed a nice vaalhaai(soupfin shark)

I sommer used the same bait and just added some more chokka, 10seconds later i was in again! i handed the rod to my Boet who joined us for the day, he made short work of a small hammer! next Gold shark went tight and there was pandemonium on the small rock! we forgot to take a pic of Willie's hammer and i rushed to get a new bait in the water!SMASH!!!!!WHOOP! Ferdie landed the hammer and willie took the snap.

I was in the water again and within seconds i felt the familiar pull of a hammer and i set the hooks! this fish took some serious line and then stopped, i had hooked a hammer in the fork of it's tail! i pulled it slowly backwards and luckily did not drown it, before i could release it! i managed another 2 hammers before it went dead as if some one had turned a light of! we decided to leave as the tide had dropped enough to go to our next stop, Pieter Rog is one serious deepwater point and anything can swim past this place! Mr Gold shark decided to slide a Ocky as he has been chasing a big Duckbill for almost a year, I told him to keep that thing in his bait box as he was going to brake his back!lol My words weren't cold yet and i saw his rod dip and stay down!FAS!! a hour and some change later he managed to land a beaut of a duckbill, i'l leave the backbraking story for him to tel...

Only one word comes to mind when thinking back to the fight....OUCH!

It reefed me early in the fight and we all thought that was it, but I guess if it has your name on... The spring tide was pussing swells over the ledge we were standing on but Whaler guarded my tired body and kept me from being washed over the side. A special thanks to Whaler for staying by my side during the fight...and Whaler and Willie eventually landing it safely. I think my arms are a bit longer today.

Next target is that Black Pylie that kept me busy for 4h30min at the Platform.

very lekker fish there. . . . I think I must fish with uncle whaler, seems every time a duckbill is caught in the southern cape its his fault;) I slid a whole occy for a duckbill yesterday, peckers stripped it to nearly nothing! :X
