Sterkfontein Dam

Hi all,

We are planning a trip to Sterkfontein Dam at the end of March. Would just like to know if anyone has details on what type of bait to use and good spots we can try at.

Day\night - Which is better?

We will be fishing off the shore line.

Also if anyone has a number\details for accomodation as well, will be highly appreciated.

Has anyone stayed in the chalets here? If so, how was the accomodation? Might want to take some of the fairer sex as well.:fishn

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rithin

How was the fishing and accommodation at Sterkfontein Dam. I am also planning a trip there. Have not been there yet. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

G'day chaps,

I've stayed at Qwantani (the timeshare resort there) several times, awesome venue for the family and for fishing!! They've got a lot of activities for the kids such as putt putt, small animal farm, swimming pool, trampolines etc. Chalets are well-fitted with plenty of space and a nice fire place in the lounge. The restaurant is also decent and is a blessing if you cant cook like me :)

The chalets are a bit away from the water so if you plan on fishing through the night you'll need to set up a tent.... I have tried both specimen and conventional and seem to have more success on conventional with custard powder being fairly consistent in terms of catches...

If you have a boat, canoe or bait boat to take your lines out - big advantage!!

Tight lines....
