stella 8000 SW

They call it a touch of class, this stella 8000 part of a batch of reels for Adaan. Quality yes indeed, have a look and see what a stella looks like inside, what the gearing, drags, spool and internals look like. The entire reel was also corrosion treated. Expensive investments like these require the maximum protection possible. This is a really nice reel, built rock solid, has a nice drag. Strong gearing, large spool, solid cage smooth as silk under load. This is what you pay for here, engineering at its best.

Enjoy

Shoot, I just wish they would make proper equipment (reliable, strong, saltwater and corrosion resistant/sealed and long lasting spinning reels) more affordable. I mean how much more does it cost to make and by now design is so mature..? We already have the "old salts" to lovingly care for them and maintain them for their lifetime.. there has to be a middleground pricepoint where the companies and resellers still make enough to be around in the future and have time for fishing and we can afford real equipment for real fish to be fished in real environments that we fish in, for a long time without worrying about tackle failure..Or I'll just have to keep saving.haha

Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures and show us your work and the internals etc. I enjoy them, they are informative and they are on topic even if the are advertising as I'm sure you are an advertiser and help pay the bills so keep it up! But if please if I may echo others sentiments, please put could these posets on internals/maintainance be moved to a repair or the likes forum, it would clutter up the saltwater forum less and be easier for someone who wants to read a series of your tutorials to also find them in one place. Along with cubans magmods etc..

I hear your request, the problem is others feel different to you in that they prefer it here in the open and have asked me to do more. The reel maintenance section get looked at if you need something, here though it gets seen easier and really adds more value also.

If you do not wish to see it simply dont read it rather move on to the next topic you wish to read, that i think works better.

On the advertising this i have consent to as i am and have been a long time sponsor of the SSEC something people on the forum dont know especially out of cape town.
We have an association and come a long way also, this relationship works for us both and all on this forum also benefit from this which is great i think.

The full benefit of what i may use i never do to be honest.

The cost of adding this information is my own but i love what i do and would not have it any other way.

Post with fish, places to fish, bragging rights etc all get to the salt water section as do some things that have nothing to do with fishing at times too. Without reel maintenance you would not be able to achieve any of the rest, hence i also feel it should also be here.

Hopefully this will add context to what you now know and maybe you will see it from a different perspective. This is life different things are important to different people, thats human nature.

What i like is that just there if offers more of a variety to all.

the reel has some nice internals there.

your opinion please:

on the samller stella reel;
lets say the stella 4000.
the cost is lets say R 5000.

If I was to choose a Sedona 4000 and the price was R500

so in essence I could buy 10 sedonas for the price of one stella, would the 10 Sedona reels outlast the one stella reel?

I mean, if I use no 1 and spin it till its finished, i'll start with no 2 and carry on until I get to no 10.

so in essence I have spinned through 10 sedonas!
how long will the stella last before it is finished?

I cannot see that the stella internal gears will outlast 10 sedonas! or will it?

for the same amount of spinning there will be wear and tear on the stella, thus it would need internal gears replacement at some time!

so what would the cost be to replace these internal gears?

I just want to know, cause it need to justify the initial cost of the reel "stella"

hope you can assist

Same happened to a mate of mine... Blinged up Stella 10 and Kaibutso. Popping and jigging was slow so he threw out a livie and ended up with a large shark on. He fought it for about 20min but when he was moving from one side of the boat to the other, he slipped and lost his kit. Just a minute or so before that I was looking round the boat for a lanyard to tie to the rod... didn't make it in time

Old salt, is this your first Stella or do you do them regularly.
Do you have a range of spares (consumable items) readily available?
I have several high end reels that need to be done - Accurate, Stella, Abu 30, Santiago, etc and am looking for an experienced servicer.
Thanks

Good morning Fin S

I have done loads of high end grinders yes, if you go to my bussiness page on face book jonathans reel repairs service and upgrades you can see more.

I have done reels much more intense than stellas also, i dont always remember to take photos especially when under pressure lol.

There are jigging and grinder reels which are much more intense to do, most stellas require special tools to be able to open and split the cage to work on them, finding that is a mission on its own.

So yes i have done very specialised reels and not just the single one but many. I specialise in reels, the services i offer is high end and all the products i use are imported fom the USA, CANADA and GERMANY. You Wont find any low cost ordinary oil nor grease being used by me, infact those i do use offer higher protection than the OEM products used by manufacturers. I spend a small fortune on oils and greases but this is also whats sets me apart from the rest.
Spares from shimano has become a big problem, on these reels all you may need replacement bearings mainly, i stock around 40 different sizes of UBC, NSK, SKS, etc i only uses japanses, american and french bearings you wont find any cheap chinese, taiwanese or korean ones with me and i only keep quality as this reflects on work done.

I did repairs for suburban tackle for two years until i took ill then was forced too stop due to ongoing treatment, i do reels for a few charter companies, for some commercials, a few WP clubs and loads of social fisherman too. I do specialisec work for Penn SA as well. Without the need from these people i would not be able live out my passion, those i serve are important to me and client service sits right at the top of my priority list with excellent workmanship.

I invite you to have a look on my page and also google sealine and see what you find. I think you may be pleasantly suprised. I have been doing
this which i love for 23 years now to add back ground so it is not new to me. my services was never public in years gone by but word of mouth, health and life changes lead me to where i find myself now and i totally love it.

The service i offer is based on quality and not quantity, this is reflected in the work i send out not the totals done. A lengthy response but i puposely did this in the event someone else has a simular question. Reels are like babies to me and when they are here they belong to me until done and i am pedantic about my tackle lol.
