Hi All

We went to Stlucia from the 18Nov-22Nov and we did a bit of dropshot, the weather was not great but we got a few fish in the lake nothing in the surf also went to Cape Vidal there I only got a Lizardfish( that is what 1 of the ocals told me it was)

In the lake we got the following on dropshot

1 1,5kg Catface Rockcod

3 Flat heads and lots a big fish.

There was a guy who got a 9 kg Cob on a spinner in the lake, I will post some pics later.

Hi

On the mouth side it is pretty safe but you must be warry the crocs swim around all the time and you must keep a safe distance from the waters edge don't take any changes, the hippos is a more towards sugar loaf but not that far but just keep your eyes open and don't fish after sunset if you see some movement in the water that look like something big keep clear.....remember aslong you can see the croc you safe but the moment the thing disipear under the water you must be warry...hope this help and ask the locals and the tackle shops..

Like Jess says, beware of the crocs and hippos. We were told that there were also sharks in that estruary haha, so just be careful. Bait that worked for us was the Berkley Gulp Range if you doing the whole dropshot thing.. Try the minows and work on a slow retrive. Speak to the guys at Fisherman's Den at the Engen; they are very helpful.

Fish that you can expect on dropshot here: Kingfish, Kob, Rockcod,Flatheads, Grunters and Stumpies. There are also other species here to, so dont be suprised if you hook something thats not on the list:wfish

Best spot to try on the dropshot would be the point. See the pic that I have attached below. Try not to fall into the water at the point haha because its very deep hey.The red spots indicate all the places were we or other guys caught fish.

All the best bud and catch us some nice fishies. Look forward to your report.

I was in St. Lucia in Feb this year and the weather was awful. Needless to say the fishing was not great. The only success I had on the dropshot was a 6kg yellow fin that was caught about 1km offshore.

If you are staying at the Bridge then you have your own private jetty that extends onto the estuary {lit up at night}, safe to fish even at night.
