St Francis Bay 22April - 2 May

Hi All

We are 3 jetski's planning to fish St Francis Bay over easter and the next weekend. Anybody planning to fish there that time. We would also apreciate a couple of spots in order to make the hit rate a bit better. The kind of lures, bait etc would also be nice.

It looks like nobody else is fishing that weekend in the area, kan anybody give us some spots. I fished in that area last year and tried to locate spots with the fish finder, its just better if you have a spot for the weather doesnt always give you enough time to drive aroud

there is not very much jet ski fishing here, the sea is often a bit rough, but if you are prepared to get wet, then it is great.

there are plenty opportunities here for lure fishing. the leerie's are here in force and readily take white plugs. please catch and release these guys!! you can really get into them, and it breaks my heart seeing people taking more then one home.

the yellow tail are around at the moment too, trawl for these with deep diver rapala's, mackerel colour works well. also, they like the white plugs, but this is challenging.

bring small and large plugs, also silver spoons. light and heavy tackle for different days.

if you want to bottom fish, then the geelbeck are always fun. they are pretty easy to find, and the other ski boats will be on them in the evenings.

launching here is a challenge, the sea launch is daunting and a bit touch and go on the high tide. there is a sheltered launch in the canals, but a license is needed. i am not sure how much a short one costs, but it is about R800 per year.

We are staying in the Canals, so we have to by a permit and use the launch through the river. I paid about R250 for the week last year, what is the fee if you would use the sea launch? I know that you have to pay at Jeffreys for the Beach launch. Also about R200 for the week.

Must say when I was in Sept last year there the launch at the canals was easy compared to the Key Mouth launch.

Will start to speak to others to get the gear ready, cant wait

hi,

the canal launch is as easy as it gets. just be careful not to speed in the river, the people hate ski's enough!!

the sea launch is free, it is the old nsri slipway and the surges there are big at times. the slack tides are ok, but high and low tides can be hard. prepare to get your car full of saltwater. i think you should just launch in the canals, leave your ski's in the water next to your jetty, it doesn't get better then that.

i will be at yellow sands for that time, hope to get some good fishing there. only fished from the shore there before. taking my ski, there is a launch site there, maybe some nice kob.
