Good evening All.

Here are a few reel i did for Retief. Speedmasters, a Grandwave 40, a sl30sh and a torium we sent on pension.
have a look at the before and after pictures, look at the corrosion, look at the grease turning to mush and encouraging corrosion also. This is a new clients and i will not see this type of thing again.

Look at the grandwave and the spool tension cap, see how the grease and oil has crystallized, from here it forms an acid and eat anything it comes into contact with. You will note the grease and oils that were in there have totally dried up as it was not up to the task of protecting long enough. The one speedmaster the driveshaft was bent somehow, this i managed to straighten also, you will see the two pictures next to each other.

The torium 30 we decided not to fix for obvious reasons, look at the aftermarket washers fitted peeling out the sides between the gear and drag plates. Look at how the grease had turned a nasty blue green, this spells bad news. The cost to repair i always weigh up versus the value and replacement costs. Reels are never blanket fixed, i always consult and advise clients accordingly.

Please ensure you have your reels serviced on time to ensure costs are kept to servicing and not repairs also. Going cheaper always works out more expensive in the end, i see this all the time.

There are lots of pics on my facebook page Jonathans Reel Repairs check there for more.

Enjoy the post.

fixing this reel was just too expensive bearings, drags, and the general condition did not warrant this

SKILLED WORK IS NOT CHEAP AND CHEAP WORK IS NOT SKILLED.

Ensure you service your reels at the right people.

Ensure they are passionate about what they do and are not just out to take your money.

Try and look after your reels also as best you know.

Service them on time and you will pay only for servicing them and not repairs which become expensive in the end._seal1_
