So got some mates keen for a day session @ Haga Haga to try target some Blues on Saturday, as the weatherman was predicting good things.

So my alam goes off just before 4am and off we went.

arriving less than an our later we had our Sensation 5'' minnows working a bay infront of the houses which is known to produce kob. After about 20minutes we hadnt gotten any takes so we moved on in search of a couple Bronze Bream.

The sea was very flat by mermaids pool and we couldnt really find any working water so I decided that we were not going to flog a dead horse, and we would be on the move until we found a good looking spot - evan if that mean we had to walk to the Cape Henderson Reserve. At this point it looked as if today was going to be a long day.. How quickly things can change!

By now the tide was pushing, and the spot @ Pullins bay was looking good for a poensie, so we offloaded our kit, swapped our 2/0 Gamakatsu salmons for some more appropriatly sized ones.

Loaded with a Sard/Chokka combo Darin was first to hit the water, and it wasnt even 10 seconds that his bait was in the water and he was screaming ON! At this point I was still cottoning up my first bait and quickly went down to helm him guide the fish over the lip.

Good start! 57cm Kobbie! He had swallowed the Hook and the hook must have nicked his gills so we decided not to tag him, and we put him in a gully and after making acouple turns he shot off rather strongly.

Finished my bait first cast - felt that signture Kob take and I was on! 53cm! Off he went with a numberplate!

Then Grant opened up his scoringboard with another 50+ Kob

Kobbies are here to play! By this point eveyone around us was watching tv as we proceeded to land nice kobbies between 50-70cm.

Then I got absolutely Flattened!! Drag screaming and very strong headshakes, we had lost afew of the bigger ones because they would swim straight towards you and shake the hooks - so I walked back as I furiously reeled him in when I had him turned between runs.

After some hairy moments trying to get him over the lip waiting for a big swell Darin managed to grab him!!!

Still not breeding size but at 925mm its a PB for me!!

Well Done JP. I was supposed to go to Haga with a friend on Saturday but he was leaving a little late to target Kob and I had work to do so I reluctantly declined. Now I really wish I could have gone.

As a consolation we went Poensie hunting Saturday night at Cinsta and Wade got a 5,1kg Poensie and a 150cm Spotted Gulley and I got a 161cm Spotted Gully and a decent striped Catshark.

Nice! Does a gully shark pull harder than a striped catshark? Or would you say they give a similar fight? You still fishing the RASSPL's?

Spotted Gully is definately stronger than a Catshark and the Spotted Gully's get a lot bigger. I have however yet to find a non ed that can convince me it's an edible quite as well as a catshark. I kind of know it's not an edible but the headshakes have me hoping right up to the point where I see old pyjama:fbash

I'm not fishing RASSPL, for pretty much the same reason I don't fish leauge. Decent Fishing time is hard to come by and I don't want to stand in a crowd fishing a comp at a venue I don't like. I like to fish where I want when I want.

I will still fish the annual Haga/FishingEC comp though.
