First things first: I am no expert. This is the way that I was learnt by my fried and it works beautifully. It also gets the live bait down to the sinker much quicker because the fish also swim with your line as you shake your rod. Your hook trace is directly in line with your live bait’s mouth. When tying your hook onto the slide, I also don’t cut the excess line off close to the hook but leave a longer peace of say 1cm because when rigging you live bait as in the picture and you pull your main sliding line towards the left; this excess 1cm is used to lock between the two arrows. This helps to prevent the hook from falling flat.
When using 2 hooks I do it the same way but the hook that goes through the mouth is a sliding hook and it also goes just through the upper lip. Be careful not to put the hook into deep into the fish’s mouth because it does not stay alive as long as it should be. When placing the hook at the fin on the back, it also produces a better hook up rate.
