I know everyone is clipping their bait to their sinkers but I'm a firm believer in a short sinker trace 15cm odd with overhand knot in it. Tline leader line works well it snaps like cotton. Hook trace I usually go heavy around 0.8mm good quality and at least 50cm long. My theory is when fighting a good fish it's easier to keep the sinker up off the bottom. Managed a 10kg musselcracker on a 12ft 2oz rod and 18lb double x main line, solid 20min plus fight, but the sinker never snagged once. Just my experience and I think it helps with bait movement.
