Saldanha Iron Ore Harbour 25 Oct

Finally caught something to write about.

Went fishing on 25 Oct at Iron Ore Harbour in Saldanha (open day) and caught 4 fisj in the 1 kg on my first 4 casts and all within 10 minutes! Caught a steenbras of about a kg.

Thanks for clarifying - does the steenbras have a sharper nose?

Jip,sharper nose.Distinct lip shape,more elongated body.Don't worry,we all make mistakes.Some species are quite confusing.Very similar to another specie

Nice stumpie.  Just a note, steembras has a size limit of 60cm.  Heard from my mom today, my dad went fishing with his really bad back.  Took him 30 minutes to walk over the sand to get to the sea - after pumping some prawn.  He caught an undersize steembras that went back.  Ai, no pain no gain.

Meanwhile here in the UK I caught a 64cm 3.5kg sea bass (minimum size 36cm).  Wish my dad could have tasted it...  The mullet in the pic was 48cm (1.5kg) and made 3 huge sandwiches!  Wat kan ek sê, ek's 'n visvraat!

Sê jy, die een is eintlik klein!  Die een in my profile pic is 2.5kg maar jy kan hulle hier 4kg+ kry... as jy gelukkig is.  Daar's 'n brug hier in 'n rivier waar hulle met die uitvloei van die gety bymekaarkom.  Tien of meer van hulle op 'n slag in een spot, ongeveer 2-3kg elk, maar bitter moeilik om te vang in hierdie spot.  Baie goeie sports vir hulle size!
