Rod lengths

Hi All

I really need advise on what's the correct rod length to look at when purchasing a rod for my grinder. I recently purchased a saltist 6500 grinder for heavy surf fish. I wanna buy a rod to match it. My confusion comes from the various lengths rod manufactures and rod builders recommend. Its as if each 1 I speak to recommend a different length. BM SS recommends a 430 length, Assassin Evo-14ft6, Pentagon P7 also similar to Evo length, and then there's some that swear by the 400 lengths eg(400/3). How does these lengths affect the grinder setup? Is there a significant diff in casting from the 400 to the 430 lengths?

My desire is to pair my grinder with the Waft iron feather 14ft medium. Would that be ok? Or should I look at a longer rod?

I would appreciate any bit of advise to help me make an informed decision.

Hi Ashley. Don't stress too much over the length. All the rods mentioned are 14ft to 14ft 6 inch built.so they are more or less the sa.e length. The waft iron feather blanks are good. Just make sure the rod has the right winch and guides for a grinder set up.
