Resin Lures / Poppers

Hi Guys

Help!!!!!

I want to experiment with a few resin lures, like Onda Onda's, making them in other shapes and sizes.

Can someone please tell me about making a mould.........I have the shape I want to use, in plastic, I am copying a commercially bought lure in the shape, but want to play around with the weight significantly........or would it be more suitable to drill a hole in the top and insert weights where appropriate. They are trolling lures that I want to convert to casting/ spinning lures.....

I suggest a visit to AMT in New Germany (Power Centre). They sell silicone material for making moulds and polyurethane, etc for casting I think your best bet would be Moldmax 30 silicone.

Hi Noclue did you manage to make those resin lures? I'm also looking to make a few resin chissel nose plugs, but stil trying to figure out a way to make a decent mold?

Played around with some moulds, everything from metal to candle wax...

Anyway, best thing I have used yet is a simple clear plastic tube. You can flatten and bend it to shape the lure, it's clear so you can see were the bubbles are, easy to insert the spring steel, you can clamp the end shut to get a flat head or leave it open to get a round head. Made a lot of errors with the first one but the basic conscept is pretty easy.

Chisel nose, still have to add eyes, but it's way easier just to pop in a few doll's eyes when moulding the lure. This was made with candle wax mould, to much pt.

Hey bud,
Not sure how I missed this thread. I would make a silicone mould to cast the lures. I plan on making a mould in the next week to make a jet head cona, I can drop you a link if you wish to follow it.

May I ask what resin you are using?

Do a search actually. Tauruck did a nice tutorial. Unfortunately he doesn't visit us here any more so it won't help asking him questions. The mould he made was for lead. The product he used is not the correct stuff for that application but the mould is perfect for resin casting.
