Replace Scuppers on a Duck

My Gemini duck has what looks like 2 elephant trunks hanging out the back but the material is hard as leather and they simply don't seal at all.

what is the easiest cheap option to replace these with? as the drain holes sit below the water line when at rest and the boat gets a couple hundred liters of water in it, do the ball scuppers work? or can I make new ones out of PVC

Looking for a foolproof system that's been tried and trusted

Normally these are tubes made from PVC, same as the pontoons. At rest they do not let water in and if the boat is moving and needed water then drains out easily.

If you have a picture of the "elephant trunks" post it as it will make it easier to see what is currently fitted.

Hi yes I have plenty PVC left over from a double skin patch that I made for the boat, I was just wondering because my current ones are hard as hell and don't seal at all.

just wondering if its a simple job of removing the old ones and gluing some of the PVC material and replacing them.

or if the ball scuppers valves are a better idea as they are below the water line.

The PVC is probably old, if replaced should be fine.

My Ski Vee is fitted with Scupper balls(Also basically below water level at rest and more than one person close to the transom).

My boat is a 1995 model and last trip at Jozini at anchor also started "leaking water" at rest. I fitted new scuppers and balls and bought some replacement seals(rubber) and balls. They also get hard and don't seal so well after extended use.

What is best? Not sure but mine seal 100% now and had 0 water coming in last few trips.

Went and got some Scuppers with the ball, the clear ones so I can see if there are debris getting stuck in them, at least the model that I bought has spares available for them at Texwise marine.

Price wasn't too bad at R210 each, I've found you have to shop around like crazy as prices vary by hundreds of rands.
