Private boat fianance. Please help?

Ho there everyone!

I am in the process of purchasing a boat from a friend, and I want to obtain finance. My bank requires me to buy through a dealer, and they charge R15k for it!?

Does anyone out there know how we can approach this?

Hi Cobus,

15k sounds if they are taking you for a ride, I sold my outboard and the man also needed finance, the boat shop here was going to charge him 3-4k, its just for all the paperwork and handling fees.

Then he had to sign a waver so that they wouldn't be responsible for any after sale come backs,(just to cover them)

Yes R3-R4k is the standard. Approach any "friendly" car dealer - they can do it as well.
