predive tips

could you give us some tips on what to do before a dive that helps. I'm kind of new to boat diving but I find it's best not to drink liquids cause this tends to swoosh around and assist in making you rather seasick... I could be wrong but if you have tips that would be great...
do you eat something for energy before you go out?
I always tend to have massive headaches after dives... is this normal? do you think it's due to water loss?

You need to rehydrate, because your kineys get squeezed and you will urinate a lot.

Avoid anything dairy, because it causes phlegm.

Bananas are good for energy and you can make a drink, by liquidising them and mixing with other fluids. Don't be shy to get on the boat for a rest. If you relax when you are not feeling well, you will enjoy your day a lot more.

When spearfishing, remember that you are there to enjoy yourself and not to impress anyone, or compete with them.

If you dive competitions, you need to keep your energy levels up, because you will typically be diving a six hour competition.

To add to Moggy :

Rather try "pre-hydrate" by getting in plenty of fluids the day before a dive, and then constantly throughout a dive rather than a whole lot of fluid just before going out giving the swoosh feeling as you said.

Small amounts of easily digestible foods are the best, milk and cereal is a no-no as the fibre is hard to digest (taking energy) and the milk aggravates sinuses.

Massive headaches are normally caused by elevated CO2 build up,which means your rest intervals need to be extended.Like Moggy said, relax and enjoy the dive.Often less, longer quality dives produce better fish than multiple short dives.
