Hi guys, honestly try to keep your baits as natural as possible, if fishing sandy beaches, try Sealice, or possibly cracker shrimps preferrably black they are stronger and work like magic, there is a special bait called bay squid, but its very hard to come by and very expensive possibly R200 for about 200grams,but it is to be used for those big grunter, stumpies and pompano. otherwise i always belive in using a whole sardine or some chokka

Well somethin interesting i was told was that if bay squid is not available the alternative is to use baby squid prepped onto the hook lookin as realistic as possible..then sprinkle a mix off silver an red glitter dust on the bait..supposedly works like a charm!...anyone tried this?

Bait presentation is very important, look smell and freshness are utmost important. rememebr baits that are naturally found in the water you fising in helps. example Sunkist has a lot of sealice. i use seallice and have had good results. mullet bait around the mouth area targeting salmon helps. Lesson:bait used should be naturally available. This is not a hard rule though. Shark baits are very easy, bloody, oily, and gook proud.Mackerel head, fillet, bonito, sarda sarda, live or dead shad. a mate of mine caught a 60 kg skate on a large live blacktail i gave him
Bay squid and baby squid is not really tghe same thing. i dont use baby squid, cos is not always fresh and there are better alternatives. bay squid is very good, my personbal opinion is thats its overated. i have seen guys catching fish and trying to remove the leftoverbaysquid from the fish to be used for the nex bait. I love the tugela squiid, Slightly larger, pre packed. and fresh. many ways to use as well. THE BEST DEVELOPMENT IN BAIT IS THE IQF SARDINES.I HAVE NOT BAUGHT BOX SARDINES IN OVER A YEAR NOW. ITS WELL PRICED AND VERY FRESH
IQF, i think stands for Individually Quick freezed/frozen. each sardine is individually sealed and perfect

If you dont want to pump it,take a quick drive to wilsons wharf and look for the street kids/adults showing you a curved there finger, thats if you want to be involved in illegal doings..HAHA

A very under rated bait that i have come across is cape mackeral..the ones i have seen an used are larger than ordinary sugar mackeral..it can be slid out whole or as a head with half body or u can fillet from the tail halfway up the body on both sides an remove the centre bone leaving the 2 fillets to create movement in the water while bleeding..excellent bait for any game fish..
