I'll be flogging the waters of Vidal this month with a Bit of luck I might pick up a Tuna. Just have to go get the split ring and hooks which cost more than the poppers cost me to make

Ok that is true,but will depend on what you want to use and where you buy?

What type of wood did you use ? Hope you have sealed them very good . Other wise you will find them cracking, like so many wooden lures from the past .

You planning to use them from surf,or deep sea at Vidal ?

I'll be fishing of the boat I prefer spoons for the surf.
The wood is slow grown pine and is pretty well sealed I go through a process as I make the lures. After shaping and sanding they get baked in the oven for about half and hour until they are hot I then dip them in a thin epoxy mix for about 3 minutes which makes the epoxy penertrate deep into the wood, then its primer sanding and a coat of 2K clear. Each paint job is normally at least 6 coats of 2K with about 2 coats of clear before the final clear coat.

does any one know where to get those end caps from,ie the metal piece that sits between the lure and the wire loop?
