The motor will only jump out if you select reverse and the motor is not locked ,repair the motor lock before someone loses an arm .

Sounds like you have you mixed up fwd and reverse

Either controls have been mixed up, or if the gearbox gearbox has been worked on the gears have been put back wrong ,or your prop is on back to front, or you have a counter rotating prop on the box Iso a normal one

There has never been counter rotating props for a 30 Hp Yamaha. These where only on large outboards.

The gearbox is @%#&* gonna cost some $$$$ to get mobile again((s((peed)

Check your gearbox and prop and if it looks like this then you have a counter rotating gearbox

Mahi Mahi.
That prop is the wrong way around on the motor.
Like was said in another thread it does not matter what way the prop is mounted it will still turn the same way.
But that prop is on the wrong way

This is a pic of a counter rotating props you will see the whole prop is the opposite of the other one.

Hi if you look at the Pic of mahi the prop is on the wrong way around. The think this pic will help with how a counter rotating prop looks.

The Ear of the prop that is the closest to the motor on Mahi's pic should be on the outside.

Plus the end that is now against the motor flares open for the exhaust gas to escape.

Go google any boat motor and you will see that that prop is on the wrong way.

Plus like I said even if you put the prop on the wrong way the gearbox and prop will still turn the same way that does not make it "counter rotating".
All that does is lessens power/speed and can potentially damage the motor/gearbox.

Nope.

It is wrong normal rotating or counter rotating it is wrong.

That gearbox will turn clockwise now turn the prop around the gearbox will still turn clockwise if you look at the prop what "first" touches the water is on the right hand side then pushes in if you turn the prop around the right way the part that "first" touches the water is still on the right hand side and will still go in the same direction.

Was supposed to be a joke, guess sealine has lost its sense of humor

Good one Mahi Mahi, I was watching to see how far this one would go.

Problem was discovered, gearbox was @#$%^&*.

By the way there was never a 30HP counter rotating prop Yamaha. This is done only on bigger motors to balance the direction of the torque. So was never a possibility from the start.
