first impression then was a light weight medium size reel for surf applications

have fished the reel a few times and always impressed by ease of getting sinker to a respectable distance without magnetic control like the fathoms and without much backlashes to think of when running spool almost free where side play is concerned.. think few times i fished this reel probably personally casts slightly better than the fathom 25n for me..extra bearing support makes spool run more true for a better balanced spool and better cast if compared to reels where there is no bearing support for pinion or right side spool shaft etc.

fathom 25n though fished heavy by me like dunking etc and not sure of how innards are.. going to strip and service that reel also soon for upcoming season and almost if not identical to squall should be not too difficult..will post a tut on that too if possible

this reel has a good retrieve ratio.. has anti reverse that still works after opened up ( had reels that anti reverse don't work after opening them before even though put back properly).. dog had a bit of play but when reel back together no play in handle but like every reel can do with 2 dogs.. all working parts still in order no rust after a year being stored away

well and sturdy made at a good price but think too big for most fishing with a 15 size squall probably better for most general fishing.. with todays superlines on the market capacity should not be a issue when that steamer comes along in a smaller class reel
