I need some help guys. My outboard is doing something strange. I recently grease it's verticle axle. The motor is over reving when i put trottle. It still moves, but at almost idle.

I am left stumped here. Just like to have an idea before i look at the motor.

Thanks Guys.

Hey harry..i have absolutely no experience wat so ever in outboard motors but if u equate the prob 2 a cars driveline then it would a slippin or worn out clutch system..alternatively a jammed c.v.t transmission but again i dont know if an outboard has one? a c.v.t transmission is similar 2 an auto gearbox found on latest cars an smaller auto motorbikes..c.v.t=constantly variable transmission..

most proberbly its the clutch slipping. you should be getting a smell of something like rubber burning. check it out before you go into sea coz it can cause the pressure plate to crack then it wont go into gear.

Yep, the prop has a rubber bush in it which acts as a first means of protection for your shaft. The rubber had worn off causing the prop to spin freely.

All i did was replace the prop @ R480 and i was perfect.

Cheers.
