In my opinion always good to have a backup but in reality it is an eyesore when you look at a high performance jetski. Also think if you have a late model and well maintained jetski with proper safety kit and you launch with buddies I would not bother with another motor fitted

Charles will be at the JHB boat show if anyone wants to see the system. If you have a small motor already its a good option in my opinion. If you have to buy a motor then you have to consider cost. If you broke down at sea all alone it would be worth the money!!!
Whatever you do take a tow rope just in case!!!!

ps Charles from Jetski Developments is a mate of mine so I have seen the benefits first hand. I remember when I first seen Tubbys. I thought the guy had stabilisers on his Jetski because he was learning to ride it.
Most peolple scoffed at the idea....But now they are practically standard on fishing Jetskis.

If you fish alone especially in Moz it may be an option. May not look nice but can be very practical. For me a major benifit will be if you can get night rating with a motor setup. I was frustrated many times when one can not launch before first light here in Durban. With night rating you can even push your afternoon fishing. Will not go out all night with a jetski but that extra hours can work. Perhaps the manufacturer of the system can comment on the night rating. Let us know what you decide.

No outboards to PWC and tubbies need to comply to regulations, as these modifications affect the original crafts design and boyancy....
It doesnt quite say what you wrote above but it basically says no outboards and no Tubbys or equivalent to be fitted without testing and documentation. For ALL modifications the manufacturer must change the build plate to accommodate the modifications. In my opinion its actually a very good idea, however the manufacturers just need more time to get all the processes in place to test and issue paperwork.
Maybe a simple way would be to say if you add Tubbys / Jetwings / Fast Pods / Pontoons the Jetski is downgraded to a 2 person craft (160kg) if you add an outboard it is downgraded to a 1 person craft (80kg)? I thnk the manufacturers say 1 person is average 80kgs. (Thats another story!)
I spoke to SAMSA yesterday about this mariine notice...... Been promised an answer by tomorrow (Wednesday) and I will update here. It seems the notice was issued without proper industry consultation or insufficient time. Parts of the notice are accuarate and parts are not ibn my opinion.
