Hey Guys

Just a point to make that might save you a major annoyance if you are looking at purchasing DVD's from the US on Drop Shotting.....

Buddha only knows why we decided to call it drop shotting, and why everyone thinks its " new".... Fishing Jigs and soft plastics in the Salt has been around for at least 15 or 20 years in this country, and a hell of alot longer everywhere else! Leadhead Jigs are about the oldest and most effective lures on the planet. ..... Ok, so now that we are past that, back to my original point.

In the US, Drop SHotting is a method of fishing, quite different to what we view it here as.... There version of Dropshotting entails using a soft plastic of some kind, usually rigged texas or carolina style SUSPENDED on a Xmas Tree style set up, above a sinker.....

So basically what you do, is cast that sucker out, and the sinker sits on the bottom, with the soft plastic suspended a little way above it on a dropper loop.

They then bounce the rod tip, which imparts a jiggling action to the soft bait.... The whole idea is to keep the bait in the same place, not retrieving it, but enticing fish to it... Am I making sense?

Its deadly effective, and I think could be killer on some of our estuary species as well... Just think, if you set it up right, and fished it through some deep holes in the Transkei and Eastern Cape, as well asd North Coast Estuaries, you might connect with some great fish.

So, just be careful when you are ordering anything from the us with the word "DropShot" in it.... this goes for tackle too... alot of the big rod companies ( G.Loomis, St.Croix, Diawa ) make Drop SHot rods, which are designed for the technique explained above, not for throwing and fishing soft plastics in the manner that we regard as dropshotting......

Ok, thats what I wanted to say,..... sorry if it didn't make sense, but just wanted to maybe save you a few headaches down the road, and maybe a few $$'s too....
